June is nearly upon us! I’ve spent May readying my garden for the coming season of outside living, and I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made: peonies are opening, lavender is blooming, and the herbs are smelling fragrant.
For today’s bit of garden inspiration, we are turning to the English garden. I’ve been enjoying watching “The Secret History of the British Garden,” which has no doubt inspired my choice of topic. I sometimes wish I had the sweeping vistas and parkland that Lancelot “Capability” Brown designed, but then I think of all that mowing. I’ll stick with my small patch for now!
This is Barnsley House, set in the Cotswolds. I’ve just learned that it can be “your very own (fully staffed) country house set in extensive landscaped gardens.” I won’t look at the price for that kind of weekend…
Few flowers are more English than the rose. My favourites come from David Austin Roses. This one is “Gentle Hermione.”
Another beautiful manor garden, this time with a lush border.
A magical time of day in a magical setting, don’t you think? You can find more garden inspiration on my Pinterest board.
